i cannot seem to be able to start the UPM, instead i'm getting a 'runtime error 5' dialog. i'm running win xp sp2 english version with 2gb ram & 3.5gb ram including virt. memory available when trying to execute the software.

Hello, thats very strange. Download please this file:

http://download.lodusweb.net/nastaveni.usr

And put it into directory with upm.exe, then execute upm.exe to get the error dialog. Debug.log file should be generated - submit here its content, i will check it out.

Well i heard about this error with the same debug log and I dont know whats happaning - i have to check out whole code for next release of UPM so i hope ill find this bug and fix it. I am sorry about these problems.

for the time being, would you know of another software capable of mercilessly terminating a running project on win xp? wasn't successful with dtask or processkill.

You can try Process Explorer by Microsoft (ex SysInternals), antirootkits like Rootkit Unhooker, Gmer, IceSword can force process kill, wipe and copy. Or Avenger by Swandog is very usable utility for deleting files before the "main" system starts so it can help You to kill mostly everything. Are you having problems with viruses?

no, i'm dealing with an application that sometimes crashes and than lags in the running processes for a few minutes (and cannot properly run another instance until the crashed disappears).
